Bruce Kevin Bates grew up in West Palm Beach, Florida, and currently resides in Flagler Beach and Tallahassee, Florida.
Since early childhood Bruce has had a passion for drawing and painting, and has always enjoyed sketching and painting the people and places around him.
While his artwork usually depicts realistic images, he often uses heightened colors and textures in his works to accentuate the feelings he is experiencing while creating his art.
His favorite mediums are oils and acrylics, but he continues to experiment with new materials and techniques. He often employs “Old Master” techniques in his works, combined with new methods that he has developed over the years through experimentation.
Bruce has exhibited at the Norton Art Gallery in West Palm Beach; The Flagler Museum in Flagler Beach; The Artist's Gallery in Bunnell; The Saint Augustine Art Association in St. Augustine; and The 621 Gallery in Tallahassee, Florida.
Bruce holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree with Honors from Pratt Institute in Brooklyn, New York.
